Peter Burt LL.B. Partner
Peter Burt is the senior partner at BURT & DAVIES. He is an acknowledged expert in compensation law in Australia and arguably Victoria's leading lawyer in TAC claims, in particular TAC common law claims. He has practised in the area of transport accident law in Victoria for in excess of 30 years. He has conducted numerous landmark compensation cases at all levels and is a widely acknowledged expert on the intricacies of the Victorian Transport Accident scheme.
Peter is a Law Institute of Victoria Accredited Specialist in Personal Injury Law. He is a past President of the Victorian Branch of the Australian Lawyers Alliance (ALA), formerly the Australian Plaintiff Lawyers Association (APLA). He is also a former Chairman of the Personal Injury Law Advisory Committee set up by the Specialisation Board of the Law Institute of Victoria.
Peter has a particular interest in acting for clients with catastrophic injuries, including those with tetraplegia, quadriplegia, paraplegia and a range of other spinal and orthopaedic injuries as well as those with acquired brain injury. He also specialises in TAC claims involving overseas visitors who are injured in transport accidents in Victoria. He has acted for residents of the United States, Canada, Iraq, Switzerland, France, Denmark, Germany, United Kingdom, Brazil, Hong Kong, China, Thailand and New Zealand.
In 1999 he gave expert evidence on the Victorian Transport Accident Scheme to the Satchwell Commission of Enquiry in Pretoria, South Africa. He has authored many articles and has delivered numerous papers dealing with Victorian transport accident claims at legal seminars and conferences organised by the Law Institute of Victoria, Leo Cussen Institute and Australian Lawyers Alliance. He is a former visiting law lecturer at the Goulburn Valley Base Hospital School of Nursing.

Clara Davies B.A. LL.B. Partner
Clara Davies is the Managing Partner at Burt & Davies. She has more than 12 years experience acting on behalf of injured transport accident victims and those with TAC claims. She is an expert in the operation of the Victorian Transport Accident Scheme, and is a Law Institute of Victoria Accredited Specialist in Personal Injury Law. Clara conducts litigation in the Victorian County and Supreme Courts and has also undertaken Appellate work in the Court of Appeal and the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
Clara served as the National President of the Australian Lawyers Alliance (ALA) in 2008 and 2009. She was a Committee member of the Victorian Branch of ALA for 6 years and served on the National Board. Clara also serves on the Transport Accident Committee of the Law Institute of Victoria and the County Court Litigation Committee.
Clara has expertise in dealing with TAC claimants who have suffered catastrophic injuries including spinal injuries, acquired brain injury, orthopaedic injuries and scarring. She has been frequently engaged by State Trustees Victoria to act on behalf of represented persons who have been injured in transport accidents, who have TAC claims and who are suffering from severe cognitive and psychiatric conditions.
Clara has also conducted some landmark compensation cases. She has a depth of experience in all facets of transport accident law and brings empathy and commonsense to the handling of difficult litigation.
